I have a dedicated WSUS server in my environment. My clients have their updates approved by WSUS. My question is about the link to download the updates directly from microsoft. Does this bypass the approved updates I have approved in WSUS? Will this link download unapproved updates that I haven't approved in my WSUS? Does my clients look to my WSUS server first to see what they can or can't download directly from Microsoft?

Hello, If you download the update directly and manually, this does bypass WSUS and the update will be installed regardless of whether the update has already been approved in WSUS. Because the update you download is essentially an executable installation package, it doesn't check the approval status with WSUS.Best Regards, Hania Lian

Yes, if they click on that link to check for updates from Microsoft, it will bypass WSUS altogether and check for updates for what is available on Microsoft.
