How to change 2fa from Microsoft account to text message

I need my Microsoft authentication app to sign in but can’t use the app since it won’t show the code and I need a code to sign in to the app

If you're unable to use your Authentication app, choose one of the alternate options that you have configured in your account like call. Once you've successfully logged in using a different second factor, you can go ahead and update your security settings to configure additional factors like SMS, call etc. you can choose the "I d If the above isn't possible (because of reasons like you haven't configured backup accounts, other second factor options etc.), then, you would have to go to the Microsoft account recovery option, choose "I don't have any of these" option and verify your identity details by keying in the information that it asks.
