Is there any safety or security concern when using visual basic 6 IDE on Windows10 / 11 ? If so what are they? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/visualstudio/visual-basic-6/visual-basic-6-support-policy The visual-basic-6-support-policy discusses much about support for the VB6 runtime. I would like to know the security status of Visual basic 6 IDE or VB6 in visual studio 6.0 IDE with SP6. As the VB6 runtime is supported by Microsoft, the VB6 apps which runs using them are safe and secure? Is it safe to use the VB6 IDE to develop and use VB6 apps on Windows10 and 11.

Microsoft's Support Statement for Visual Basic 6.0 on Windows states "As detailed in this document, the core Visual Basic 6.0 runtime will be supported for the full lifetime of supported Windows versions. The support bar will be limited to serious regressions and critical security issues for existing applications." Since support is not provided for the VB6.0 IDE or anything not explicitly identified as supported in the Statement in my opinion your use of such items is at your own risk. A VB6 application running on an unsupported version of Windows is also at your own risk. I doubt that anyone would provide you assurance that use of such items is "safe and secure".
