Windows cannot finish installing update

I keep getting a prompt to install a Windows 10 Update. Without setting a specific time, it eventually tries to install it automatically. When I come back to my computer in the morning, I am on the Windows Login screen. There's no indication of a problem. Then, within a few days I get the same message again. This has been going on for many weeks.

I didn't realize that I was also getting a message something like "Windows could not complete the update. Uninstalling", after which it would UNINSTALL whatever it had downloaded.... So it never completed the update. Until I was there to witness it, I didn't realize it was going through the same cycle repeatedly. I thought it was trying to install additional updates.

There is obviously something wrong with my Windows 10 installation, but I have no idea how to identify or correct it. I would like to keep my version of Windows 10 updated. My current Windows 10 version is: Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3570

I also have a problem that my computer will not Shut Down properly. The eventually screen goes blank, but I can still hear the disk drive or fan running, but the computer is in a catatonic state. The only thing I can do at that point is to press and hold the Power button to shut down completely. I don't know if these two problems are related.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello According to the description, it seems the update failed to instal and it would be installed repeatedly. We could check Event Viewer\Windows Logs\Setup log to verify it. If there is any update failure event recorded, we could try to open an administrator command line and run "sfc /scannow" and "Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /restoreHealth" to check the system health and they will fix the corrupted files if there is any corrupted file found. If there is any third party antivirus software installed, please try to remove it temporarily (reboot the machine after uninstalled). If the update will still be installed with failure, we could check C:\Windows\Logs\CBS.log for more information to troubleshoot present issue.
