Hi, We have a SharePoint online directory which we use to sync files between individuals using OneDrive. This is the second time now that we have files that just disappeared from the drive. It cannot be found in the recycle bin, and the actions of the members do not indicate that the files have been accessed by anyone. The directory and all the files in it are just missing. We work across MAC and Windows using OneDrive on all the employees' machines. This is frustrating now as we keep losing important files with no trace of them.

    Hi @Kobus van Tonder ,

You can make the following attempts to see if they will solve the problem:

1.Use the Microsoft 365 Protection Center or the audit log report to check whether the item was moved or deleted. For more detail information, please refer to this article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/how-to-recover-missing-deleted-or-corrupted-items-in-sharepoint-and-onedrive-for-work-or-school-3d748edf-c072-46c9-81a4-4989056ebc87

2.Check whether the item is in the second-stage recycle bin for the affected site collection Manage the Recycle Bin of a SharePoint Online site collection

3.If the above steps don’t resolve the issue, you can try restoring your OneDrive or a shared library

    Hi @Kobus van Tonder,

After my testing, given that I can't reproduce your problem. It may be hard and time-consuming for us to go on further troubleshooting.

In order not to impact your business, I suggest you open a ticket with Microsoft immediately. (Microsoft 365 admin center ->> Support ->> Help & support)

Microsoft experts can have a remote session with you and help you collect and analyze real-time logs. Thanks for your understanding.
