Hi All,

Hope you can help me with my issue.

We currently have a VDI which is clearly using RDSH.

What we wanted to be able to do is to Copy/Paste (A text or a file) and/or Drag/Drop (a File/Folder) from my Laptop to the RDSH(VDI) and Vice Versa. We can do the Laptop > RDSH but we can't do it on RDSH > Laptop.

The RDSH is being accessed on the same Laptop via the VDI.

My questions are (Also to have an idea)

  1. I saw some posts on google regarding RDP/RDSH that Drag and Drop is not supported. Is this true?
  2. Is Drag and Drop the same with Copy / Paste(ex: Right Click > Copy/Paste or CTRL+C/V ?
  3. Which GPO corresponds to each of the two?

Hoping for your answers. And thank you in advanced!

    1. While Remote Desktop Services (RDS) does not officially and natively support the "Drag-and-Drop" feature, users can employ copy-paste keyboard shortcuts or utilize the mouse to perform these actions effectively.
    2. In practical terms, copying and pasting through right-clicking or employing keyboard shortcuts achieves the same result as Drag and Drop—transferring data seamlessly between the local and remote environments.
    3. To ensure seamless clipboard redirection on both RDSH and RDVH, configure the policy "Do not allow Clipboard redirection" to Disabled. This setting guarantees that clipboard redirection is consistently permitted. R02 Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Device and Resource Redirection > Do not allow Clipboard redirection [set it to Disabled]R01 Clipboard redirection encompasses both text information and file transfers, enhancing the versatility of data sharing between the local and remote desktops. ADDITIONALLY, if you have multiple Remote Desktop Collections, and you don't want all of them to allow Clipboard redirection you can skip all of the steps above and take a look below. If you want to enable Clipboard redirection only for specific RD Collections navigate to Server Manager, go to Remote Desktop Services, For Example: You have two RD Collections: User's image Select your preferred collection and focus on Properties tab, select Tasks: User's image Select Edit Properties from TASKS dropdown menu. User's image When Edit Properties Window appears, select Client Settings and enabled Clipboard redirection on the Collection. Keep in mind that this applies to all servers that are part of the targeted RD Collection. Finally, on the client machine running the remote desktop connection client (mstsc), navigate to the Local Resources Tab. Ensure that the Clipboard option is selected by checking the corresponding checkbox for seamless clipboard redirection. R03 Make sure when you initiate Remote Desktop Session with the server to check on the client machine if the RDP Clipboard Monitor (rdpclip.exe) process is being executed. --please don't forget to close up the thread here by marking answer if the reply is helpful--
