How to disable or remove (if possible), completely, from scratch or in some way "Skype for Business" from automatically starting by default, when starting the user or turning on the computer?

Well. The summary of the problem is as follows: As I understand it, but I don't know much, Skype for Business is for companies, because of the name of the product. I do not use, nor am I a user or customer of Skype for Business. There must be some reason why it comes with programs in certain types of Microsoft packages or plans. I didn't remember that "Skype for Business" existed, I looked for it in applications, in the control panel and finally in the search from the Start Menu. I opened it and took a quick look to see what was different about it, I closed it normally and that's it. And when starting Windows, it opened automatically; already understanding that it was one of those programs that started automatically, without the user's consent just by opening it. *I have already tried Setting it up from the user login interface for Skype for Business; Finish the task from the task manager, and even try to Install “Skype for Business” again from the installer that can be downloaded from the site of this product so that if something was deleted from the program, it could be fixed during the installation . But Skype starts again, even if I have not logged in, but I have not used -Skype for Business- and I have not registered an account there.

  • I changed the checkbox option from the settings to disable automatic startup with Windows. But it does not work. I do not know why. …. There is no record of any errors that I know of.... I was searching and found that it seems that Skype for Business, changed to Teams, or they did some migration to the update (apparently). Is it because of this? Or it won't have anything to do with it. The Skype I have is from 2015, it says, I suppose it applies or is included in Microsoft 2016 (due to its proximity to the year). *What can be done? I was thinking of modifying the automatic start in some safe way if possible for this program only, but I don't know how. And I also tried with the help of other programs that uninstall, but it is not found as if it were installed. I know that it cannot be uninstalled because it comes by default, along with the other Microsoft programs, and to be able to uninstall it the rest of the included programs would be affected. I don't know anything that can be done unless it has already happened or happened to several users, and a solution is sought. Tried Installation Executables: lycentry.exe (Skype for Business). Edition: W10 Home Single Language. Insert 4 ScreenShots. I appreciate any response and possible solution. Thank you.

Can you not uninstall the app? Note that there are 2 different ways to get apps installed. The traditional way is with an installer so going to Apps & Programs would cause it to show up. However it is possible you have the MS Store version. In that case right click the icon for the program on the Start Screen and Uninstall should be an option. Alternatively under Apps & Programs should be the list of store apps that are installed and you should be able to remove it from there.

If it was installed as part of an Office Deployment Toolkit deploy then it might be harder, in my experience. Ideally you should remove it from the ODT manifest before installing it in the future. I don't know if you can uninstall Skype without uninstalling Office if you installed it using ODT.

If you cannot uninstall it then you should just remove it from the many different places it may be configured to run from. The easiest solution in my opinion is to get Autoruns and run it as an Admin. Then look under the Startup tab for all the apps that auto-start. Find Skype and delete it. Then start Skype up and refresh the autoruns UI. If it shows back up then it is auto-adding it when you start so disable Skype by unchecking the box instead of deleting it. In most cases this prevents the app from adding its entry back but in some cases it doesn't work.
