I understand that you would like to setup a URL rewrite for Azure Standard Front Door setup, where your source xyz.com/abc/123/html/test/404.html should be rewritten to xyz.com/abc/123/html/test1/404.html. You've setup a rule but it is not working.

To begin with, I would like to clarify the below points:

For a URL rewrite, Front Door rewrites the URL before the request is sent to the backend/origin. This won't change what users see in the browser because the changes are hidden from the user.

For a URL redirect, Front Door sends a redirect response to the client with the new URL. That, in turn, requires the client to resend its request to the new URL provided in the redirect. The URL that the user sees in the browser will update to the new URL.

So, could you please let me know your exact requirement?

Source Pattern: /test/ Destination: /test1/ Preserve Unmatched Path: Yes

@Karuna p Could you try to pull the F12 log of the source and check if the source pattern is legit? Also, you must not have any other rules hitting the same pattern, where if that been matched it will not process the rest of the rules.

So the source path html/test/404.html will land in "BlobNotFound" 404 Not found. This we want to overcome and rewrite to new path /test1/404.html. Also there is no other rule that matches this pattern.

@Karuna p Could you try this settings?

Also, please do collect Fiddler or F12 log while accessing and receiving 404. Only then we know who is dropping 404, and if the URL actually been re-write.
