Hi Team,

I wanted to confirm on how "Meeting Started" notification works. I assume there are 2 stakeholder in most cases, participants and hosts. Somehow the behavior of this notification differ between the 2 groups. So here are my questions.

  1. Does the notification only appear for meetings inside a group/channel ? Does it also works for meetings setup outside the channels/groups (Meetings setup in Outlook) ?
  2. Does the notification pop up if a participant starts the meeting before the start time?
  3. Does the notification pop up if a host starts the meeting before the start time?

The reason I am asking those 3 questions was based on my experiments.

  • It seems that the notification only appear on meeting scheduled/arranged inside a group or channel.
  • If a participant starts the meeting early, the host and other participant were not able to see any notification. But if he/she starts the meeting on-time or later, then only the host will get the notification.
  • If the host starts the meeting earlier, none of the participant receives any notifications.

I have checked the settings and all seems to be setup correctly.

I would prefer some confirmation on above cases as the documentation for this feature is quite vague.

Any support is appreciated,

Thank you

    Hi @Ewan

    Welcome to our forum!

According to my test, the result is the same as yours.

But sometimes the notification time is not entirely accurate. And there is no official document that clearly states the order of notification.

In general, Teams notification behavior is influenced by a number of factors. For example, the type of meeting, the user's role, when they joined the meeting, their notification settings, and the device or browser used.

In addition, if you have any comments or suggestions about this feature, it is recommended that you could post the functions you expect and your sincere suggestions on the website dedicated to collecting feedback. Many features of our current products are designed and upgraded based on customers’ feedback. We sincerely welcome your suggestions, and thanks for your understanding and support!
