If you used Azure Information Protection (AIP) to encrypt emails, you need an email client that can read and decrypt those messages, such as Outlook (desktop or web).

However is a detailed blog where you see why you need AIP to send or receive encrypted emails?

If receiver would need a license, receiving encypted emails would very rarely work. No license required, only an email client which can decrypt the email.
