Monitoring sql server on vm using azure monitor

How to go about monitoring sql server on virtual machine. Please help

Monitoring what in detail? There are a lot of key perfromance indicator? And why do you see a difference between VM and a physical machine; there is none?

Thanks Olaf .. It is basically around the performance parameters and thresholds - waits, deadlocks etc . Virtual just mentioned as vm is on azure and monitoring to be done through Azure monitor

Thanks Swathi. However if the count of sql servers is high , it would be difficult to Monitor it individually. How do we go about it. Thanks

@Vishu You can automate the process of enabling the monitoring using ARM templates. Here is the ARM template sample for your reference.
