As Basic LB is about to retired in next year. Can somebody share me required downtime and best practice which will involve least downtime to migrate from basic to standard

I understand that you would like to know about the required downtime and best practices for migrating your load balancer from basic to standard SKU.

As @Sam Cogan mentioned below, although manually upgrading your Basic Load Balancer to a Standard Load Balancer using the Portal is an option, we recommend using the automated script option, due to the number of steps and complexity of the migration. The automation ensures a consistent migration and minimizes downtime to load balanced applications.

Hi @GitaraniSharma-MSFT ,

Seems like we have to face little bit downtime in order to migrate the LB. We are in planning to avoid that downtime as well by creating secondary infra (LB) or DR solution in order to AVOID THE DISTRUBTION AS WE HAVE PUBLIC FACNIG LB.

Microsoft has produced an automated set of scripts that will do this migration for you; you can find them here. This process will do the work for you, but there will be some downtime as the migration occurs. The downtime should only be a few minutes, but please bear in mind this section of the doc:

The upgrade normally takes a few minutes for the script to finish. The following factors may lead to longer upgrade times:> - Complexity of your load balancer configuration> - Number of backend pool members> - Instance count of associated Virtual Machine Scale Sets or Virtual Machines> - Service Fabric Cluster: Upgrades for Service Fabric Clusters take around an hour in testing
