Sharepoint Online Syncd with Onedrive - local recycle bin deleted items

Question

Here is the scenario; We have a client who only use OneDrive to sync SharePoint libraries to there laptops and what's happens is folders appear in there local recycle bin that that user didn't access or change themselves. When checking the SharePoint site recycle bin the folder that is appearing in the users local recycle bin isn't showing as deleted which makes me think is was renamed/moved but not entirely sure. OneDrive is set to file on demand at the moment and the above has been happening for some time and need to find an explanation why its happening. I'm aware that in 365 you can run a audit check on a site to see what has been happening however just wanted to share this with you guys to see if anyone else has experienced this or knows why this s happening. What is the status of your synced files? You could recognize status through OneDrive icons.

Please follow this article to know more about OneDrive icons.

If your synced files are downloaded to local and have been deleted, they will show in the local recycle bin.

If your synced files are online and have been deleted, they will show in the OneDrive recycle bin not SharePoint site recycle bin.

The status is they have been set with the status to free space on disk.
