Microsoft Teams/Office 365 » Unable to sign in

Question

Hi, I’m stuck. My organization has a Teams/Microsoft 365 license. While most of the team either use the Authenticator app or phone options (SMS) to sign in, one of our team members has been unable to access Teams. When attempting to sign in, they are presented with the following message (in German; screenshot attached):

Action required. Your organization needs additional security information. Follow the instructions to download and set up the Microsoft Authenticator App.

As admin, I’d like all team members to be able to choose their preferred authentication method. Which settings do I need to tweak to allow my colleague to collaborate with us on Teams? Thanks in advance _ William

I’d like all team members to be able to choose their preferred authentication method.

Based on my knowledge, Microsoft supports using multifactor authentication. It helps secure your environment and resources by requiring that your users confirm their identity by using multiple authentication methods, like a phone call, text message, mobile app notification, or one-time password.

The easiest approach is to use Microsoft Entra ID Protection. If your organization has a license for Identity Protection, you can configure it to prompt users to register for MFA the next time they sign in.
