I can't update Word

I have a lifetime subscription to Word (Student Editiion 2019). For nearly 8 months now, the update feature keeps breaking down and won't work. If I try to manually update it, it just processes for awhile then throws up an error. I've been online with tech support several times and they keep advising the exact same things that the self-help articles I've read suggest. After the most recent time it broke, I even did a factor reset and reinstall of Windows (10), using a copy downloaded from Microsoft's cloud. Then I reinstalled the base Word program from a known-good image I had from a previous repair attempt (also downloaded from Microsoft by a service tech). It's been less than 72 hours, and the update function is broken again and throwing the same error. I'm at my wits end. Absolutely nothing suggested by Support has helped. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hi @Greg Price

it just processes for awhile then throws up an error

Is there any error message or error code? If yes, you may share it with us.

Please go to Word > Account > Product Information, check the version number.

I suggest you perform an online repair for Office from Control Panel. Please keep Internet connection OK while repairing Office.

    • To repair Office, you may go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > Find and right-click on Office > Change > Online Repair.

Then I reinstalled the base Word program from a known-good image I had from a previous repair attempt (also downloaded from Microsoft by a service tech).

Have you tried to download Office from Microsoft My Account page? Generally, we get the subscribed Office installation file from this page.
