Approvals icon not working in Teams chat

I am the Teams administrator for our government tenant of Teams. I have confirmed the following:

  • The Approvals app is active in our tenant and for the specific team/channel that we are experiencing problems on as well as for the users affected.
  • We can use the Approvals app from the Teams left-hand navigation.
  • We have Teams version 1.7.00.1864 which was updated on 2/1.
  • The Teams cache has been cleared and the Teams app has been restarted.
  • The problem exists on multiple devices and occurs in the Teams app (not the browser).

Usually, we can create a new post within a channel and select the icon for the Approvals app. It is no longer showing up unless we click the + icon (Actions and Apps) in the post window. However, nothing happens when we select Approvals from the Actions and Apps pop-up.

I found another odd behavior while troubleshooting. After I select 'Start a post' then + and then the Approval app, the left-hand navigation and the upper navigation (minimize, expand, close, search, etc) are frozen. I can select a different team or channel and then the two navigation bars will work.

Is anyone else experiencing problems with Approvals in Teams chats or know how to fix this?
