External User with read access can able to share files from SharePoint

Hi Guys,

Can you help me with this issue:

1. Created a security Group(not O365 group) in O365 Admin center
2. Added external user(Ex:Gmail, or Yahoo user) in to the security group
3. Added the above security group in the SharePoint group with Read access

But the external user can still able to share files to other users. Why this is happening with read access permission ?

Hi @SR VSP ，

It's by design that the Share button is avaliable to users(including external users) with read access permission.

Usually,when external user click the Share button to share files, they could only share files to users with acess.

To restict external users sharing files to other users, you could uncheck the option "Allow guests to share items they don't own" in SharePoint Online admin center-> Sharing-> More external sharing setting.

Thus, external users can not share files to other users by clicking share button.
