Workflow Log Not Populating in Logic Apps Standard with On-Prem SQL Database via Virtual Network - How to Troubleshoot?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working with a Logic Apps Standard workflow and facing a challenge where the workflow log is not being populated, leaving me uncertain about the status of SQL executions within my workflow. These SQL executions are supposed to interact with an on-premises database, and notably, we're not using a traditional gateway for this connection but rather a virtual network. Here are the specifics of my setup and the issue I'm encountering:

  • Workflow Type: Logic Apps Standard.
  • Database Connection: On-premises SQL database accessed through a virtual network, without using a data gateway.
  • Problem: Despite setting up SQL executions, the workflow log remains empty, which prevents me from verifying if the executions are happening as expected.
  • Observations: No error messages are being reported, which would typically suggest that the workflow is functioning correctly. However, the absence of any activity logs makes it impossible to confirm the SQL executions.

Given this setup, my questions are as follows:

  • How can I validate that my SQL executions are correctly storing data in the Logic Apps as intended, especially considering the use of a virtual network for database access?
  • Are there specific steps I should follow to troubleshoot or enable detailed logging in a Logic Apps Standard environment to capture these activities?
  • Does the connection method to the on-premises database via a virtual network require additional configurations for logging to work properly?

I would greatly appreciate any insights, experiences, or advice on how to address this logging issue. If anyone has encountered a similar setup or has suggestions on troubleshooting methods, your input would be invaluable. Thanks in advance for your help and looking forward to any guidance you can provide!
