Hi @Sandstrom, Kat
It automatically saves down to a predetermined place (like my Teams files)? AND is set to never expire (the automatic settings gives you like 60 days until expireation)?
As far as I know, Teams recordings don't support auto-saving to a specific location at this time. But you can change its location manually. Since meeting recordings are .mp4 files, they can be moved or deleted just like any other file. If a meeting recording is moved from its original location, the expiration setting will no longer affect it.
To set the recording to never expire, you can use the Teams admin center or PowerShell to configure the recording expiration policy. More information, see: Default expiration time.
The recording has open permissions so anyone in attendance can Move/Copy the file?
In Teams, only people who are invited to the meeting have access to the recording (guests and external attendees can only view the recording if they explicitly share it with them), so only those with permission can manually move the location and set all permissions to access the file.
The location and permissions depend on the type of meeting and the role of the user in the meeting. Users that have full edit rights on the video recording file can change the permissions and share it later with others as needed. You can use the OneDrive or SharePoint settings to manage access and sharing options.
By the way, Teams actually has an official feedback portal where customers can send feature requests or suggestions to the product team. It is recommended that you could post the functions you expect and your sincere suggestions on the website dedicated to collecting feedback. We sincerely welcome your suggestions, and thanks for your understanding and support!
