The cost of using Azure Synapse Analytics and other Azure services for learning purposes depends on several variables:The cost of using Azure Synapse Analytics and other Azure services for learning purposes depends on several variables:
1.When it comes to the pricing of Azure services, the payment model is mainly usage-based. In other words, you just pay for the resources you exploit. These numbers range from CPU for instance compute power; data storage for which data is used; and data transfer among others which consumes power too.
2.Different free tier services and resource types are aligned to various tiers in Azure some of them are free and while others are basic, standard and premium tier and that depends on their capabilities and their price point ranges.
3.There will be a significant factor in terms of how long you will be running the resources for is how this affects your expenditure. In a lab, it is important to develop a budget before the lab starts and to clean up everything (erase) in no time after finishing a lab otherwise, you will expend unnecessary resources.

So what to do to minimize your costs ?

    • Do the Azure Price Calculator first to build up a rough idea of how much you'll spend throughout the learning path given your plan for the different services.
    • Monitor and make sure your usage and costs stay active in Azure’s portal. Make use of cost analysis and invoicing tools of Azure to track resource consumption.
    • A main point here is to remove what you are no longer using. This methodology is for learning tracks and labs which means after each performace delete materials.
    • For a novice user, a free Azure account is the easiest way to get started with Azure. It comes equipped with a set of free services that you can use for a year, and a small amount of credit to spend exploring other Azure services in the first 30 days.
    • Select the data storage options and performance levels that are suitable for your application both in terms of the performance needed while minimizing the costs. While the basic and standard tiers generally do the job fine for learning exercises, the advanced tiers of such learning tools should be preferred.
    • For services given that of them are for scaling up (Azure Synapse Analytics), set the lowest performance that you can in operation and still have all the understanding exercises done within the specified time.
