Hello all,
I have a question about naming Web App services. We are starting process of tenant migration. We wish to keep all resources name the same as they are in source tenant. When trying to recreate new Web App in new Azure tenant I get error message that Web App name that I want to use is not available:
Is there any option to use the same name on new tenant if I delete resources from old tenant?
App Service names need to be globally unique, so you will not be able to use the same name as an existing one in another tenant. This is the same for some other resources as well, such as Storage.
Even if I delete resources the name is not released after certain period of time?
If you delete the resource name will be released, but it may not be instant.

Sam is 100% correct here.
One way to mitigate this would be to use your own custom names/cert in this way you're in control of the name and can point it to "Web App A" or "Web App B". However in suggesting this I'm aware of the cost implication (and slight increase in complexity).
