Hello, I hope you are all well.

My question is regarding bandwidth and as per my requirement, I set up my server in Central India, Because most of my audience is from Central India. My audience and server are in the same region but still azure is giving me bandwidth with charges of another region. While Azure should use the bandwidth from the data center in India. Such as, my server's data center is in India but Azure uses the bandwidth of an Australian data center. After doing some research I realized that the charges I was reading were from Microsoft Global Network (MGN).

I hope you understand and now I ask my question which questions you have to answer I will be thankful to you.

Question: As I told you my server data center is in India and Azure should use Indian bandwidth but why is Azure using Australian bandwidth?

    @Kinsely Tom
    There are a few possible reasons why you are seeing bandwidth charges from another region, such as Australia, even though your server and audience are in Central India. Here are some of them:

    • You are using Azure CDN, which delivers content from the closest edge node to your users. Depending on the location of the edge node, you may incur inter-region or inter-continental data transfer charges.
    • You are using Global VNET Peering, which links two virtual networks in different regions and enables you to route traffic between them using private IP addresses. You will be charged for both inbound and outbound data transfer at both ends of the peered networks.
    • You are using Azure services that communicate with other Azure services in different regions, such as Azure Storage, Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, etc. You will be charged for outbound data transfer from the source region to the destination region.

    To verify which Azure services are generating the bandwidth charges, you can use the Cost Management + Billing service in the Azure portal. You can filter the cost analysis by resource type, resource group, region, meter, etc. to get a detailed breakdown of your bandwidth usage and costs. If you are still unsure about the bandwidth charges or have any questions about your Azure subscription and billing, you can contact the Azure billing and subscription support team for free. They are available 24/7 and can help you with any technical or billing issues. You can create a support request from the Azure portal. You can also visit the Azure support page for more information. I hope this helps!
