Hello, this support article talks about how to set up the connector for Microsoft Purview and Zoom, but I am not sure what capabilities are supported between Microsoft and Zoom using this connection. Can Purview ingest Zoom Team chats, Zoom In Meeting chats, etc. and apply DLP policies? Is there some other article explaining what works when this integration is configured?

@HQ Jeremy Justin - Thanks for the question and using MS Q&A platform.

The Purview Connector Integration with Zoom allows you to scan and ingest metadata from Zoom data sources into Microsoft Purview. This integration supports scanning Zoom data sources such as Zoom Cloud Recordings, Zoom Meetings, and Zoom Webinars.

However, it is important to note that this integration does not support ingesting Zoom Team chats or Zoom In Meeting chats. Additionally, Purview does not have built-in DLP policies for Zoom data sources.

The main purpose of this integration is to enable you to discover and classify Zoom data sources in Microsoft Purview. Once the metadata is ingested, you can use Purview's data classification and labeling capabilities to apply your own DLP policies to the data sources.

You can find more information about the Purview Connector Integration with Zoom in the Microsoft documentation. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let me know and I will be happy to assist you.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.

Microsoft and Zoom integration can help you manage your Zoom data specifically meeting chats and recorded files in a more compliant manner. Here's how:

    1. Connector Import: The connector converts the content of the meetings (including chats, recorded files, and metadata) from the Zoom Meetings account to an email message format and then imports those items to user mailboxes in Microsoft 365.
    2. Applying Microsoft Purview Features: Once the Zoom Meetings data is stored in user mailboxes, you can apply Microsoft Purview features such as Litigation Hold, eDiscovery, retention policies and retention labels, and communication compliance.
    3. Data Loss Prevention (DLP): While the fetched documents do not mention DLP policies applied directly to Zoom data, the DLP app today can monitor and automatically protect access to sensitive information across M365 services like Teams, Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, which would theoretically include the imported Zoom data given it is stored in user mailboxes in Microsoft 365.
    4. Trial and Subscription Options: If you're not an E5 customer, you have the option to use the 90-day Microsoft Purview solutions trial to explore additional Purview capabilities that can help your organization manage data security and compliance needs.

As Pradeep mentioned, zoom team chats are not supported, I am also not clear on how to distinguish between team chats and in-meeting chats. Technically the meeting chats could be imported into the user mailbox and hence supported. But I have no experience with it.

Does that answer your question? Would you like to know more about setting up the connector with Zoom or handling the imported data?
