External User Leave Settings

I have a question about the external user leave settings...

If I request to leave, will my email account get deleted?

For context, I accidentally linked all my domains/emails together and want to unlink them without deleting my email accounts and starting over.

I added privacy info & allowed the request to leave, but I'm afraid of what I don't know.. can you confirm that if I request to leave, the email will not be deleted & will instead be it's own "global admin"?

    Hi Erin,

    If you are a guest to a tenant, you can safely leave the organization and it should be removed from that tenant as described below:

    When a B2B collaboration user leaves an organization, the user's account is "soft deleted" in the directory. By default, the user object moves to the Deleted users area in Microsoft Entra ID, but permanent deletion doesn't start for 30 days. This soft deletion enables the administrator to restore the user account, including groups and permissions, if the user makes a request to restore the account before it's permanently deleted.

    @Erin

    Thank you for posting this in Microsoft Q&A.

    As Dillon Silzer mentioned in the above answer, When a B2B collaboration user leaves an organization, the user's account is "soft deleted" in the directory. By default, the user object moves to the Deleted users area in Microsoft Entra ID, but permanent deletion doesn't start for 30 days. This soft deletion enables the administrator to restore the user account, including groups and permissions, if the user makes a request to restore the account before it's permanently deleted.

    When you leave the organization as guest account, post 30 days only the mailbox attached to the guest tenant will get disconnected. However, the actual mailbox which is attached to user original home tenant will still be available.

    It is only the guest tenant that you will not be able to access it anymore post leaving the organization. however, you will still have access to the mailbox which is linked to your home tenant.

    Let me know if you have any further questions.
