Windows Server 2016 - DNS CNAME Bug?

When creating a CNAME record in a domain using the (Same as Parent) as value, the CNAME will overwrite any previously existing entries without prompting for confirmation that it is about to overwrite. Is this a bug?

    Hi,

Thanks for posting in Q&A platform.

Based on your description, my understanding is you want to create a CNAME record in corresponded zone whose value was same as "Same as parent folder". I have done a test in my lab as below attached screenshot. If my understanding was wrong, please help to provide screenshot or more details about your issue, then I will test it in my lab and post my result later.
