Boot to VM (without host OS Windows)

Hi!

I have a laptop with Windows 10. I did activate Hyper-V. As I did read in internet, Hyper-V is Type 1 hypervisor, meaning it runs directly on hardware.
How can I boot a VM with Windows 10 directly from BOOT MENU, without running the host OS Windows? this means I want to have only 1 OS running, the Guest OS.
At the end, this should be the most valuable thing about virtualization, which costs a lot of RAM (because of the host OS), and I have only 4 GB RAM.

Thank you!

If you wanted a windows hypervisor without the GUI you could install hyper-v server

but it's unlikely to make much difference. With 4 gB Ram you can run minimally one guest virtual machine.

The hypervisor must be running to begin with in order for the virtual machine to be able to run.

is it possible to boot without host Windows?

No, it is not possible. It doesn't matter what hypervisor you use, the hypervisor must be running in order to support the guest virtual machine running.

just I remember some years ago I did read on Technet about a procedure in Windows 7 I think, about some script or programming in command prompt, which would allow to boot directly to Windows in a VM from the boot menu. it was not Hyper-V as I remember, perhaps Virtual PC or something like that. do you know anything about it?

    Thank you!

You can download VirtualPC here, but note it is no longer a supported product.
