Azure Update Manager - Patch 2012 only

Is there a way to apply the patches only to a specific windows OS version? For example if i want to apply the patches only to the Windows 2012 R2 Standard edition, how could i able to achieve that?

Tags is one approach like suggested above, you could also use Azure Policy/automation/script to attach only relevant vms to a schedule.

Thanks Monalla for your response! There will be lot of manual intervention to add the OS as tag values and create some restrictions and hoping the tag values will not be deleted accidently! Are you aware of any azure policy that could be created to automatically apply the OS version as a tag on a server? This way even if someone deletes it, it will automatically add it back!

Kiran Ala - Unfortunately No, there are no such Azure policies that exist at this moment. You can create a custom policy based on your requirements.
