I just cleared my browsing history and logged out from all accounts. When I logged back in Edge, I lost the ability to customize my new tab page layout and content. Selecting the "Customize" button just brings me back to a generic new tab page:

When I switch my profile, then the gear icon is showing and I'm able to customize. But it is not showing in my default account.

    THIS WORKED FOR ME

    • Go to Edge Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies and site data > See all cookies and site data. Search ntp.msn.com then click the bin icon to remove and check if the issue is fixed.

Note: I deleted all the cookies for msn.com to be on the safer side but this worked.
GO TO THE STEP BELOW ONLY IF THE STEPS ABOVE DO NOT WORK:

    • If the gear icon is still missing, check the Hosts file if ntpmsn.com is being blocked and remove it. Here's an article on how to edit Hosts file : https://www.thewindowsclub.com/hosts-file-in-windows . I have verified the contents to be true so far but please be careful while visiting a third party site and please note that I do not support using third party applications to edit the Hosts file. It would be better if you did so manually.
