Power BI Connection encryption parameter for this data source

Hello guys, I have had a problem with Power BI. I got error "A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error ... (provider: SSL Provider, error: 0 - The received certificate has expired.)", after it I turned off encryption in get way settings and now all right, but I am afraid my data is not protected now. Tell me please "Connection encryption parameter for this data source" in get way setting responsible for encryption between the cloud and the gateway or between sql server and the gateway ? Thanks!
