Hi @22HAL - Heidi LUCAS,
Thanks for contacting Microsoft Q&A platform.
You can follow below steps to overcome your issue.
· Avoid clicking "Yes" when the software asks for permission to make changes to your device, especially if you're unsure about the legitimacy of the software. Clicking "Yes" could potentially allow the software to install additional malware or make harmful changes to your system.
· Since you're experiencing unwanted ads and potentially malicious software like the "PC App Store," it's important to run a full system scan using reputable antivirus and antimalware software. This can help detect and remove any malicious programs or files on your computer.
· Install browser extensions or add-ons that can help block unwanted ads and pop-ups while you're browsing the internet. This can help prevent further annoyance from fake McAfee adverts or other unwanted advertisements.
· Sometimes, unwanted software can modify browser settings to display ads or redirect you to malicious websites. Resetting your browser settings to default can help remove any unwanted changes. Refer to your browser's documentation for instructions on how to reset settings.
Hope this helps you.
I have some unwanted software on my windows laptop and when I go to try and delete it, it asks me if I want to allow the software to make changes to my device. If I click "no" it doesn't delete it bus I don't want to click "yes" because I don't want to.
The tag is not what I wanted to put but there was not an option for what I wanted. I have some unwanted software (which I'm pretty sure is trying to scam me because I keep getting weird pop up ads that I can't close without restarting the device and then they come back) on my windows laptop and when I go to try and delete it, it asks me if I want to allow the software to make changes to my device. If I click "no" it doesn't delete it bus I don't want to click "yes" because I don't want it to make changes because I don't want it to hack my computer. For reference the app I'm trying to delete is "PC App Store" because I keep getting fake McAffee adverts which I can't close or stop. I have deleted McAffee from my computer but I am still getting the ads... What should I do? Should I press "yes" when it asks about changes? And if so what if it still doesn't delete? I am sort of in a hurry because I have to do work on that computer so please get back to me! -Heidi :)
