Hello,

I'm trying to deploy VDI workload on azure stack hci 20h2. However I cannot to this because RDVH role is not avariable. ¿Azure stack HCI use the same technology like Windows server to deploy VDI? or ¿how can I do it?

Thank's

Hello @García Miñano, Christian

The strategy for new Azure Stack HCI (20H2) is to provide the best virtualization solution. In doing this, we are diverging from many of the traditional Windows Server roles running directly on the host. This paves the way for a consistent experience in the monitoring, management and updates to the hosts.

For deployment on Azure Stack HCI (20H2) clusters, we recommend RDSH running on Windows Server guests or leveraging a 3rd party VDI validated solution.

We are exploring the future of VDI on-premises. One of those areas of investigation is the potential of extending Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) workloads to an Azure Stack solution. At this time, WVD runs in Azure exclusively.

If you would like to chat about your specific scenario, please feel free to reach out.

-Ellen

    Hello @Ellen Kirby-MSFT

I thank's you for confirm that. I'll be amazing if Microsoft extending the potencial of Windows Virtual Desktop to azure stack HCI specially if Microsft allows to deploy Hybrid VDI with some VM on azure the rest of azure stack!

    Hi @Anonymous

I believe that you are talking differents things. I start again, my quiestion is: I'm testing Azure stack HCI 20h2 and I'd like to deploy a VDI workload based on virtual machine because it's allow me to use windows 10 like guest os and no persistent enviroment. However, to use a virtualization node like a RDVH its necessary that I can install this role but, this role can be installed. al least ¿Can I use Azure Stack HCI 20h2 like RDVH or I only use deploy VDI based on session host?

    Thank's

    Hi @García Miñano, Christian

WVD has "pooled desktops" and "personal desktops." Pooled desktops is when you have multiple users on the same virtual machine. Personal desktops is when users connect one-to-one (one user per desktop VM). As an example, a Windows 7 deployment would be a personal desktop scenario.
