MDS 2017: Entity Explorer missing navigation bar items

Hello,

navigating from the SQL Server 2017 MDS Startpage to Entity Explorer, there is only the "Changeset" Item available on the Navigation Bar.

Menu Items for Entities, Entity Dependencies, Hierachies, Collections are hidden.

Is that by design or are there any permissions required?

I'm using IE 11 to browse MDS Entities.

Thanks

Bodo

    Hi @bvu_muc ,

I think your issue is similar to the following post, please check.

    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/dec1e2ab-b600-45fb-a281-9605caa4fbd2/in-explorer-drop-dowl-list-is-not-visible-for-entities-hierarchies-collection?forum=sqlmds

If you are using Internet Explorer: Go to the settings Menu (little gear icon in upper right) and select Compatibility View Settings and add the MDS server to the list of Websites you've added to Compatibility View.

    Hi Criszhan-msft,
    thank's for your assistance.

I followed the instructions by adding the MDS server to the list of Websites.
    However, the issue still persists.

    Hi,
I tried Edge (Version 86.0.622.51 ,64bit) and Google Chrome, but both browser want me to install Silverlight, alltough its already installed.
Clearing IE cache did not solve the issue.
I didn't try to put IE in Enterprise yet.

We encountered the same problem, neither Enterprise mode nor Compatibility mode could fix it.

As a workaround I have used Edge with the IE tab add-on which seem to work. However, this is no feasibile solution for our company as users are not allowed to install add-ins.

Seems our long term fix will be upgrading to 2019.

    Thanks Chris-1253,
we are also trying to upgrade to 2019 asap.
Unfortunately the IE tab add-on is not an option for us, due to security settings.
