MyStaff.microsoft.com - Search functionality very limited
We are working on deploying admin units for specific groups of members such that a narrow set of individuals can manage password resets for those dynamically added members. All good. We like the simplicity of mystaff.microsoft.com for these non-technical supervisory type of individuals to handle pw resets for their own people (students in our case). What is not good is the seemingly limited search capabilities on the MyStaff.microsoft.com site. Search to find an a member appears to be by display name only - and that must match exactly as shown starting with the first character and exact subsequent characters. No wildcarding, no filtering, no way to search by last name or other identifying features like the login ID. Some of our admin units have numerous members. Frequently there are differentials in names members might go by and may not match the actual 'formal' display name or there could be a fairly lengthy list of "Amy's" to wade through. We are astounded that the search capability is not better on this otherwise useful new mystaff portal. It is also notable that even though you may only have access to one singular admin unit, the search box actually seems to search ALL users in the org rather than just the ones listed for the admin unit. Because of the way the page loads with the list of admin unit members, we can't even use the old school Ctrl+F to find on page. Example: A person with display name 'Elizabeth Jones' and login ID of '2302X0987' is not found if you attempt to search by 'Jones', or 2302, or beth. The login ID upn even shows on the long list of members in that my staff admin unit, but not searchable with the login ID! Has anyone used mystaff and found the same result with searches? Anybody have any suggestions? Trying to get feedback to Msft about it is not simple either it seems.
