Sharepoint 2019: Variation Sites getting Renamed and subsites getting deleted automatically

Hi,

We have a SharePoint 2019 farm (2 WFEs, 1 App, 2 SQL Nodes in Always-on Mode). We had done the following.

  1. Installed Arabic Language Pack
  2. Created a New Site collection and enabled Variations English and Arabic to handle bi-lingual sites.
  3. We have implemented custom branding with custom webparts, etc.

Everything was running fine till 2 days back.

However, day before yesterday, we noticed the following,

  1. Arabic and English subsites were renamed to some Junk Characters (attached screenshot)
  2. The Subsites under the Arabic / English Variation sites were automatically deleted / removed (no human intervention). Nothing shows up in the recycle bin.

Has anyone faced such an issue before? Is there be any "Timer Job" which looks at a site/subsite which deletes it after a period of inactivity?

    It may be related to a timer job that deletes subsites under the Arabic/English variation site after a period of inactivity.

    However, it is also possible that there is another underlying issue causing this behavior. It is recommended that you review the SharePoint logs and event viewer to see if there are any errors or warnings related to the subsites being deleted.
