Supported documents Document Intelligence

Question

Hi,

Does anybody know if PDF and Word documents are both supported by the document intelligence service?
On the sales page (https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/products/ai-services/ai-document-intelligence), it only states that PDF files are supported, but on this page (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ai-services/document-intelligence/concept-read?view=doc-intel-4.0.0#pages), there it says doc intelligence can use PDF and Word. When going through the learn paths of document intelligence, it states that only PDF files are supported.

This got me a bit wondering if both are really fully supported or not.

Thank you for using the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Unfortunately, thedocX file format is not supported for prebuilt-document model. Only few models do support these file format. The supported file formats are listed here please review this:

Below is the repro that I tried at my end, using the DI Studio version 2023-10-31-preview for prebuilt read on a .docx file and it was successful.

As mentioned in above official document, Same DI Studio version 2023-10-31-preview works for the prebuilt Layout as well.

However, all prior DI versions pops-up below error, as .docx was not supporting by those versions.
