Excel Online - Issues with Conditional Formatting

My team and I have been using Excel Online for over a year, and so far, the conditional formatting has been working perfectly. But now, when I click the conditional formatting dropdown menu and select any option, nothing happens. It's as if I never clicked on a button. I have nine conditional formatting rules currently on this tab in my spreadsheet, and they all work perfectly in Excel Online. Is there a limit to the number of conditional formatting rules I can have on my spreadsheet, or could the size of the Excel file be causing this issue? Any suggestions or resolutions would be appreciated.

    Hi,

As far as I know the dropdown menu is validation data, did you mean you cannot use the drop down list in Excel online? Or the local Excel app?

Could you provide a sample or screenshot about the problem list?

Did this problem appear in all files or specific file?

I suggest you check if the dropdown list is created by macro or validation data, this might be the reason of your problem.

Please be a bit more precise to explain your problem or you can upload a screenshot so that I can get more accurate solutions to this problem. I’m glad to help and follow up your reply.
