I have an existing vnet with both VPN and ExpressRoute gateways functioning correctly. If I want to import this vnet into Virtual WAN, do I have to recreate the gateways and obtain a new service key for ExpressRoute?

    @ares ,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform. Thank you for reaching out & I hope you are doing well.

    I understand that you are in the process of migrating to Azure vWAN.

    To answer your queries, I shall split it into two,

    A. do I have to recreate the gateways

    • Yes
    • You are required to create new VPN and ExR Gateways in the vWAN's Virtual Hub and add connect the VNET(s) to this vWAN.
    • Make sure you remove the Gateways in the VNET, before connecting it to the vWAN.

    B. obtain a new service key for ExpressRoute?

    • No
    • ExR Gateway and ExR Circuits are two different Azure resources.
    • Only ExpressRoute Circuits need a Service Key.
    • You can simply create a connection between the newly created ExR Gateway (in vWAN) to the existing ExR Gateway i.e. No need to create a new ExR Circuit
    • See : Create an ExpressRoute association to Virtual WAN - Azure portal

    Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance here.

    Thanks,

    Kapil
