Hi,

We want to live migrate some of our Hyper-v VM's from a Hyper-v host to an Hyper-v host cluster in the same domain. The Hyper-v cluster use a SAN as a shared storage.
One of the live migration steps is to choose the target Hyper-v host, should we use the cluster name or we should choose one of the nodes in the cluster?
Also source Hyper-v host use a SAN volume in the same shared storage SAN of cluster and use this vloume for its VM's, I dont think this would be an issue when migrating to Cluster, am I right?

Thanks

    HI @Shahin Mortazave ,

When live migrating virtual machines, select the cluster node as the destination to where you want to live migrate your virtual machines.

It's no problem live migrating virtual machines from a standalone Hyper-V host to a Hyper-V cluster, or vice versa.

Hi @Leon Laude Thanks for your reply,
We already tried that from the hyper-v console of stand alone hyper-v server but get the error that says make sure the Hyper-v services running on this server and you are authorized to access the destenation server!
When use the name of the Nodes in the cluster we dont get this error!!

    Hi,

I did the test in my lab, we can move VM from Standalone Hyper V host to Cluster nodes, however, we are unable to move clustered VM to standalone host.

When moving VM from standalone host to Cluster node, please use the cluster node name to be the destination host:

If we would like to add the VM to the cluster after moving to the Cluster node, we may select the CSV as the location.

    Thanks for your time!

@Xiaowei He Thanks for your reply,
As I meantioned when try to move from the standalone host to Clustered host and use the Cluster name get this error:
We can choose one of the nodes and dont get any error. I did not perform any move based on the node name, we want to first be sure which name we must use.
