GPT API will not stop placing a new line before currency or price.

Hi this is really driving us nuts, no matter what we do, GPT 4 will constantly return a new line '\n' before a GBP currency symbol, and even when the symbol isn't there. Right now this is pretty much the only flaw with one of our systems based on it and for 2 days we have been trying to get it to stop.

Responses such as this:

Every single time whether the pound symbol is there or not it adds a new line before the price, sometimes on both prices and sometimes double line break, we cannot remove it because it will break the other format and it is driving us insane, can someone please shed a light on this?

We managed to strip it out as long as it always returns the pound sign, but this was really annoying :) Why would it return a new line every time a price was mentioned?

Ok this is a real problem, it is returning random line breaks now. Is there any way to stop this?

One solution suggested in the OpenAI community forum is to use the logit_bias parameter to set the token value of the sequence that you do not want to appear, to a negative value, such as -100.

Also see below mentioned in this document about logit_bias parameter.

Modify the likelihood of specified tokens appearing in the completion. Accepts a json object that maps tokens (specified by their token ID in the GPT tokenizer) to an associated bias value from -100 to 100. You can use this tokenizer tool (which works for both GPT-2 and GPT-3) to convert text to token IDs. Mathematically, the bias is added to the logits generated by the model prior to sampling. The exact effect varies per model, but values between -1 and 1 should decrease or increase likelihood of selection; values like -100 or 100 should result in a ban or exclusive selection of the relevant token. As an example, you can pass {"50256": -100} to prevent the <|endoftext|> token from being generated.

This is the tool suggested by openAI to get the individual tokens and then pass it to the API for logit_bias parameter with a valure as suggested in the above documentation.I hope the information provided helps.

We are using GPT4, and this has only started happening today, these are live systems not development. We need it to return the line breaks, just not completely random and always right before the currency symbol or price. It seems we have wasted our time building ontop of GPT, it is clearly not a stable system, every day there is a new issue.

Yes it was a really bad day today, we have this implemented in Messenger also, responses were massively delayed today and Messenger expects a response within around 15 seconds or it continually hammers the endpoint with the same message, we weren't aware of this and it resulted in a continual loop of calls. We have had to remove GPT4 from our product, it is just not stable enough.

This is getting beyond a joke now, we switched to GPT 3 and it had been working fine, now it just decides to not bother returning json that is specified in the properties and in json format as example. This is a system that was working for weeks and we are just about to launch, it is now time to remove Azure OpenAI from this product, months of work wasted. I suggest that before you charge people for this service you ensure that it actually works. We are done with support requests and problems every day where the system just decides to act differently.
