How to resolve "reference Automation" issue when SSMS executes

I am successfully running SQL Server 2022 on Win 10 (64-bit) with SSMS 18.12.1. I have downloaded & installed SSMS 19.3.4. and there were no reported errors during its installation. However, when executing SSMS.exe the msg "The application has failed to start because side-by-side configuration is incorrect". I am at a loss as to what to do next.

I ran sxstrace.exe whilst launching SSMS.EXE and have attached that output along with the current versions of software applicable to SSMS.

Looking at the last "Attempt to probe manifest ... " statements in the sxstrace output, I can confirm that there are no "Automation.*" files in the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 19\Common7\IDE", and also that the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 19\Common7\IDE\Automation" does not exist. Is that my issue? If so, how can that be remedied?

I have repaired, uninstalled, installed Visual Studio, SSMS, redistibutables, etc. in an attempt to eliminate any possibility of corrupted files being the cause. All to no avail.

Happy to provide additional information. Can anyone provide me with some advice?
