Microsoft windows License Key Activation

Question

Hi I have an activated windows server 2022, and I am planning to reinstall the windows os again on the same server.

Will the same license key is accepted and activated again?

How can I use the same activation license on the same device.

Please advise on this request.

Hello @Venkatasandeepkumar Bandaru --CNTR Yes, you can deactivate your license, reinstall the OS and activate the license again on the machine.

1. Open a Command Prompt with administrative privileges and execute slmgr /upk to deactivate the existing license.
2. Perform a clean installation of Windows Server 2022 and enter the same product key that you used previously.
3. Once the installation is complete, open a Command Prompt with administrative privileges and execute the following two commands by replacing the xxxxx text with your product key
   1. slmgr /ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
   2. slmgr /ato

Yes. If you’re reinstalling Windows Server 2022 on the same device, you can reuse the same license key. Here’s how you can proceed:

Deactivate the Current License Key:

Open a Command Prompt with administrative privileges.

• Type the following command to uninstall the current product key: slmgr /upk

This will remove the product key from Windows and put it in an unlicensed state.

Then you can use the same product key normally after reinstalling the same OS.
