Hello, @Sheik Mohamed Yasar !What should I know about upgrading Azure VM from Windows Server 2019 to 2022?

It was recently brought up in a conversation with the virtual machine team that in place upgrades are not always compatible with newer Azure features. While you may be able to complete the upgrade, in-place upgrades are no longer recommended and the documentation will be updated to reflect this new guidance.

If you would like to upgrade from one version of Windows Server to another, the recommendation is to create a new VM with the OS/image that you would like. Additionally, a good practice would be to put your data on a separate disk (and not the OS).

    Hi,

There is no difference in terms of Azure Compute or OS licensing charges between Windows Server 2019 or Windows Server 2022. Depending on the workload you run, I've noticed cases where 2022 seems to use a little more memory.
