Hi I am looking into AZURE OCR, but confused between Language AI and Docment Intellegence.

I am trying to have something similar to ADOBE OCR and Redacting where it is able to grabbed a scanned PDF and able to retain its original form and redact important information.

I tried using Document Intellegence however it is only able output the text and not conver it to editable PDF like how ADOBE OCR does.

Hello @Glen Sale , Thanks for using Microsoft Q&A Platform.

For extracting text from external images like labels, street signs, and posters, you can use the Azure AI Image Analysis v4.0 Read feature optimized for general, and non-document images.

Document Intelligence Read Optical Character Recognition (OCR) model runs at a higher resolution than Azure AI Vision Read and extracts print and handwritten text from PDF documents and scanned images. Regarding your question about redacting information and converting the extracted text to an editable PDF, Document Intelligence can extract text from scanned PDFs, but it does not have a built-in feature for these.

Maybe you have to do some post processing steps once the JSON response is generated.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Vasavi
