run an application on a rds session requires admin rights

Hi all,

i have a RDS Server 2022

apps are installed on it.

in a user session, i have an app (client business app, standard) which requires admin rights to be launched.

how to avoid this ?

Work with the software developer and identify the resources that the program accesses that are restricted to admins. Modify the permissions to allow them to be accessed by a standard user.

Hello,

If your app requires an admin right, it is designed by the developer, you cannot avoid it in your PC.

You can try to contact the app vendor and discuss whether they can develop a version so your users can run their app without admin rights.

just a note : the app is located at c:\theapp on the server

is that why admin rights are needed to run it ????

Don't put the.exe file in the root of C:. Create a folder structure like C:\Apps\TheNameOfTheApp and put the.exe there. Grant users read permissions.

Update: doesn't this application have a setup.exe that preforms the installation? Typically I would expect the install to create the required folders (in C:\Program Files) and set the required file permissions.
