Password Protected Network Shared File

I am working on setting up a shared network folder across 6 computers. I have set all permissions and security to full access and everyone. I have turned off password protected sharing on all computers. I have changed the permissions on the file to everyone and full access. But on every computer it still asks for a username and password when trying to access the shared folder. I was able to get the folder to take by using the whoami command and using that as the username and the Microsoft password for each computer. But every time they restart the computer the prompt for a username and password comes up, and sometimes it doesn't work and I have to remap the network location. Am I missing something?

    Hi Noah,

It seems that you have taken the correct steps to set up a shared folder, but still encountered an issue. There may be several reasons for this situation to occur:

Check the credential manager: Ensure that the username and password stored in the credential manager on each computer are correct for automatic authentication when accessing shared folders. We can also try clearing the credentials stored on the computer and reconnecting to the shared folder may help solve the problem.

Network connection issue between computers: Check if the network connection between all computers is normal. If the network connection is unstable, it may cause problems when accessing shared folders.

Access permission issue: Recheck the permission settings of the shared folder to ensure that everyone has appropriate access permissions.

Network sharing settings: Ensure that network sharing settings are correctly configured on all computers and that any sharing settings that require passwords are not accidentally enabled.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best regards,

    Hania Lian
