Excel File Saved on OneDrive, Password Protected, Won't Let Me Get in Write Mode When Someone Else in READ

Hi,

I have a password protected file saved on One-Drive. If someone else in my organization is in the file in READ-ONLY mode (they are NOT co-authoring) it won't allow me to get in the file in Write mode. This does not happen on a normal network drive, only on OneDrive. Is there some setting I need to have applied to allow this? I want to reiterate, the other person accessing the file is in READ mode and doesn't even have the password to get the file in Write mode. Should I be able to access it in Write mode still?

    Hi,

Did you open the file in browser?

Did this problem appear in all Excel protected Workbooks?

How did you protect the Workbook? Protect Workbook or Worksheet?

If you protect the Worksheets but not Workbook, Worksheets which are protected can only be viewed in Excel for the web. This is by design behavior for Excel.
