OneDrive: We couldn't add a shortcut to AP because this folder is already in your shortcut to Accounting

As the title shows, when I tried to take a shortcut to the folder AP, the error popped up, and I found that under the folder 'Accounting', there was another folder named 'AP', the structure was like :

AP(which I hope to take a shortcut)

Accounting->AP(a different folder which already in my previous shortcut)

I don't know if the name conflict caused the error, what should I do to take the shortcut of the folder 'AP'?

Are 'AP' and 'Accounting' shared folders?

Where did you add the shortcuts to these two folders? Are they all the same place 'My files'?

I suggest you add a shortcut of 'AP' folder in another location to have a check.

You may also try to remove the shortcut of 'Accounting' first, create one of 'AP' folder. And then create the shortcut of 'Accounting' back.

Hi Jiajing,

I think I know why the error occurs. Accounting is the father folder of the two AP folders. I have added the shortcut of Accounting before, so when I try to add the shortcut of its child folder, it will be duplicated.

But I have a new question, how to partially grant access a folder? For example, I have Accounting-> AA ,BB, and CC. I hope to grant Accounting access to someone, but he can just access AA and BB, not CC. For him, he can see Accounting->AA and BB. How can I do it? Thanks a lot!

For the second question, I would suggest you create unique permissions the for folder CC after sharing the Account folder to someone.

Select CC folder > Click three dots icon, Manage Access > Click three dots icon, Advanced Settings > Stop Inheriting Permissions.

Now, CC has unique permissions, you may choose the shared people and remove their permissions on this folder. These people will not see the CC in Accounting folder.
