Retention policies are used to meet compliance/litigation requirements. They apply against each item held in the Group, and in most cases are used to ensure its preservation for the duration of the retention period. In contrast, the Group expiration policy aims to provide a way to "clean up" stale/unused Groups, based on the last action performed.
