Disable Sign-in to Microsoft Edge in Android through Intune

Hi All,

This is regarding the Edge Configuration profile for Android in Fully dedicated device.

Goal : Disable the browser sign-in / User shouldn't be asked to sign-in to browser.

I've configured in App Configuration policy of Edge to Disable the sign-in using the below Option.

Key : Block Sign-in to Edge

Type : Bool

Value : True

Also, I've disabled the Sync by setting "EdgeSyncDisabled" to True.

Is there anything I'm missing out?, Or these features have any dependency?

Alternative : Any workaround that can wipe the data from Chrome also helpful.

This did not work for me - devices say they received the policy.

From your description, I know you want to disable Sign-in to Microsoft Edge in Android through Intune

Based on my research, the app configuration policy you have configured will work.

Moreover, if you want to clear the cookies, web data and cache from Chrome, you can follow the link below.

Hi Zhouming, Thanks for the suggestion. Though I configured that policy the application installed in Android device that's running on Android 10 asking for a sign-in. Without sign-in can't able to access the browser. And also for clear cookies and other browsing data I've configured idle time to erase data. Application version that's running on the device is 122 where the supported version for the block users to sign-in to edge is 121 and above.

According to my search, edge can be used on android phones without user login, in order to test if the edge browser can be used without user login, you can manually open edge on your android phone and test if it can be used without user login.

Moreover, when configuring policies for managed apps, users must sign into Microsoft Edge to apply the policies and when configuring policies for managed devices, users aren't required to sign into Edge to apply the policies. Therefore, please check how do you configure your app configuration policy.

It's a Fully dedicated Managed Device. So No user login is required.

The configured keys for App Configuration of Edge is,

Block Sign-in to Edge - True

EdgeSync Disabled - True

EdgeDisable share usage data - True

EdgeDisable share browsing History - True

EnableSearchSuggesstions - False

Disable saving browser history - True

Actions to run when computer is idle - Close browser, clear browsing data, clear browsing history, clear cookies, clear session

Delay before running idle actions - 5

Data wipe is working as expected but Only issues i'm facing is it's still asking for sign-in

Could you please share with us how you configure the app configuration policy? do you create it as Managed devices or Managed apps? what is the policy status in Intune portal? And please follow the link below to check whether the device applied the policy.

Hi Zhouming, App configuration policy is created for Managed devices. Device configured as "Multi-app kiosk mode". Policy is getting synced to the browser, I verified that by accessing the browser by logging in.
