Switching between Work and Personal Teams on Android requires app restart

Very frustrated with Teams since personal Teams is now merged with Work Teams on Android. I don't understand why this is better than having 2 separate apps, which I could then multitask (especially on a dual screen Android device like the multitasking Microsoft Surface Duo). Instead, now I can only have one active it a time, which reduces productivity. Far more serious though, when I hit my account icon and select the Personal or Work account (the opposite of whichever I'm currently using), it moves the checkmark as if it has changed the active account, but the Chat and other options in the window do NOT change. For example, if I had been chatting with my wife, then switch to Work account, the Chat window still shows my wife and other personal chat options, not my list of co-worker chats.

Sometimes, if I keep toggling back and forth between accounts, the main window will eventually update and show the correct view for the other account. However, it's always faster and more reliable to just quit and restart Teams. If I do that, then it always re-opens to the newly selected account (Work or Personal). But this effectively means that to change between Work and Personal, I need to hit the account icon, select the other account, close Teams, and re-open Teams. I MUST PERFORM ALL OF THOSE STEPS EVERY TIME JUST TO CHAT WITH 2 PEOPLE (if one is Personal and one is Work)!

Because I use Teams for voice calls, I also have to do this every time I want to check my voicemail.

I have tried clearing the data and removing all accounts and re-adding them. None of this helps. Problem seems endemic to the app. I can't actually uninstall the app and reinstall it, because I'm using a Microsoft Surface Duo 2 phone, with Teams as a built-in app that can't be uninstalled. Still, clearing data and removing and re-adding the accounts should have the same effect.

I don't see many reports of this. Is that because others don't have this problem, or just that there are so few people using Teams Personal that no one notices this bug? Is there any way to avoid this problem of Teams not switching properly between Work and Personal accounts on Android?

    Hi @GraniteStateColin

I understand your frustration with the recent merging of personal and work Teams accounts on Android. It can indeed be challenging when the app doesn’t behave as expected, especially when switching between different contexts.

Based on our research, this appears to be a known issue on Android. Let’s explore some potential solutions to address this issue:

1.Please try updating Teams to the latest version.

2.When you need to switch accounts, try clearing the Teams app data and logging in again.

To fix this problem more quickly, you can send a feedback directly to Microsoft Feedback to add it in future updates.

Many features of our current products are designed and upgraded based on customers’ feedback. With requirements like this increase, the problem may well be released in the future.

Thanks for your understanding and support.
